On November 4, 2024, the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) introduced its KJ-500 airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft at the Zhuhai Airshow 2024. Developed by Shaanxi Aircraft Corporation, the KJ-500 is based on the Y-9 airframe and showcases advanced radar technology capable of detecting low radar cross-section aircraft, including the U.S. F-22 and F-35 stealth fighters. With a range of 5,700 kilometers and a maximum speed of 550 kilometers per hour, this compact yet powerful AEW&C system provides comprehensive 360-degree surveillance coverage.
