ChattState's TCAT-Landscape and Turf Management

The Landscape and Turf Management program deals with all aspects of plant-life care and display. Students will gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to: • Design, install, and maintain beds and landscape plantings. • Construct hardscape areas such as patios, walkways, and decks. • Maintain quality turf grasses through regular maintenance of our putting green and turf test plots, using a variety of tools and equipment. • Design, install, troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems. • Produce commercial quality bedding plants in our greenhouse • Properly prune and care for trees in the landscape Students also learn safely and efficient operation of large equipment such as: • T Skid-steer Loaders • Backhoes • Trenchers Small equipment, such as: • zero-turn mowers • string trimmers • edgers • and specialized equipment used for golf course and sports field maintenance. Upon completion of the 3-semester course on the main Chattanooga State campus, graduates will be ready to work for: • golf courses, sports fields, and parks; • landscape construction companies; • landscape maintenance services; • greenhouses, nurseries, and garden centers; • and the irrigation industry.
