2025 IGFA Tommy Gifford Awards Recap Video

On October 30, 2025, The International Game Fish Association (IGFA) hosted the Tommy Gifford Awards Ceremony at The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, Florida. This annual event honors outstanding captains and crew members who have made significant contributions to sport fishing. Each year, the Tommy Gifford Award recipients are selected by the IGFA Legendary Captains and Crew Committee, a distinguished panel of internationally renowned captains and mates chaired by Captain Skip Smith. This year’s recipients include Captain John Bayliss, Captain Billy Borer, Captain Barry Cross, Captain Paul Dixon, Captain Gene Grimes, and Captain Kevin Nakamaru. “Named after Tommy Gifford, one of the greatest offshore captains of all time, this prestigious award recognizes incredible personal achievements and innovative contributions to the development of our sport,” said IGFA President Jason Schratwieser. “Recreational fishing is an old yet evolving sport, and the people honored to receive the IGFA Tommy Gifford Award are the pioneers of our sport. As such, we must take the time to chronicle their history and celebrate their achievements through this signature event."
