Glasgow among 11 council areas put into level-four lockdown

The toughest coronavirus restrictions have been placed on 11 council areas – mostly in the west of Scotland. Non-essential shops, pubs and restaurants will have to close for at least three weeks from 6pm on Friday under the level-four lockdown. ‘Close-contact’ services such as hairdressers and beauty salons will also have to shut their doors. The council areas put into the top tier of the five-level coronavirus alert system are: City of Glasgow, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, East Dunbartonshire, West Dunbartonshire, North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire, East Ayrshire, South Ayrshire, Stirling and West Lothian.
