Approximately 13,000 years ago in Queensland, a lengthy 3 decade long volcanic eruption began. During this eruption, a new shield volcano was constructed and lava flowed up to 120 kilometers or 75 miles distant. By the time the eruption ended, a total of 676 square kilometers of ground had been coated in a layer of lava. This occurred at the Toomba volcano in the Nulla Volcanic Province within Australia.
