The chicks begin to engage in some sibling rivalry early on especially at times of feedings. They will compete for food with the oldest usually dominating the youngest. However, the chicks are so close in age that they are equally matched. Aggression is normal but remember that at this age they have very poor eyesight and plenty of hunger so a part of this bonking could be mistaking one another for food. In addition, they have very little coordination and strength to hold themselves upright for very long. The sibling rivalry will continue over the next 21 days or so but should diminish with plenty of food and time. Thank you for watching! Video captured & edited by Lady Hawk A-40 is the male eagle hatched 2005 and A-48 the female hatched in 2006. Please watch this 13-minute film (link provided below) that chronicles the journey of the bald eagle's recovery from disappearance on the Channel Islands in the 1960s due to DDT contamination, overhunting, and egg collecting to today's population of about 60 eagles on four Channel Islands, some that are successfully breeding. https://www.nps.gov/chis/learn/nature...
