The secluded "Kirifuri Falls" (Kirifuri no Taki), which was depicted by the world's most famous genius ukiyo-e artist, Katsushika Hokusai, during his travels to various waterfalls ("Shokoku Taki Meguri"), is located in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. When you ascend north from Nikko Toshogu Shrine in the Shonosuke district, you'll find Kirifuri Falls spanning the Kirifuri River. The waterfall consists of two tiers, with the upper tier measuring 25 meters and the lower tier 26 meters, totaling a height of 75 meters. It has been designated as one of Japan's top 100 waterfalls. Alongside Kegon Falls and Ryuzu Falls, it's considered one of Nikko's Three Great Waterfalls. "Shokoku Taki Meguri" is a series of eight prints depicting famous waterfalls from various regions. It was published around 1833 by Nishimuraya Yohachi as a series of woodblock prints (ukiyo-e). Created after the globally renowned series "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji," this series showcases Hokusai's culmination of skills in depicting water, particularly evident in his portrayal of "Kirifuri Falls at Kurokami Mountain in Shimotsuke Province." You can experience the same magnificent atmosphere that existed during Hokusai's lifetime, as this location remains largely unchanged, through a 360° VR experience. The music accompanying the VR footage is an improvisational piano performance by pianist Yumi Nanatsutani. You can experience a healing space enveloped in the gentle tones of the piano and the ambient sounds of nature. VR CRUISE introduces Japan's beautiful landmarks and power spots.
