Chaos-Sewing a Witchy 1930's Cape for Capetember!

It’s September, and time for the Capetember Make-Along! Hosted by Shannon Makes and JillianEve, my task was simple: make a garment that hangs over your shoulders using some form of fiber art, and do it in the month of September. HAH. Simple? I WISH. This video is about me chaos-sewing my cape for the make along. It wasn’t my first idea—or my second, or my third—but my FOURTH iteration of the project that I managed to cobble together, thanks to the weather, and shipping issues. In this video, I’ll walk you step by step how I made my witchy, versatile cape based on a 1930’s pattern with a self-drafted hood—in the most chaotic, unscripted way. I ended up only having a week to make this thing—during one of my busiest time of years at my day job—and, somehow, everything went wrong in the process. But I’m excited to share the final product with you—even if it looked like there for a hot minute I wasn’t going to manage at all. And now I have a black cape with a giant hood that I can wear and flap at people in a witchy and threatening fashion. Because, of course, that’s the whole purpose of a cape!
