Some wise man once said: ''Famous 2 band EQ Stingray tone - volume, bass, and treble on full - is achieved on a 3 band model by setting bass & treble on full, and leaving the mid in the centre detent position.'' Let's check that! Both StingRays from 1989, Alnico pickup, 4 bolt neck. -2 EQ StingRay with Rosewood fingerboard -3 EQ Stingray with Pao Fero fingerboard (born as a fretless for 1989 NAMM) -Both basses recorded with same Elixir 45-100 Coated strings -Both basses recorded through same setings on Gallien -Krueger Fusion S head, using DI Post EQ with Tube preamp. Signal then goes to Focusrite 2i2 and then to DAW. -NO spices of any kind in DAW Many thanks to my friends Nesha & Deja for lenting me their basses for this test.
