A city is about such ceaseless circulation…. I think a true city should allow one to see its progression, as well as its reflection.” “For me, it has become more and more necessary to connect my work to the social environment around me, to link them closely together.” 【關於周書毅】 2003年開始獨立編舞的創作生涯，透過舞蹈直敘生活、旅行的感觸，審視自身生命，鏈結身體與環境、社會的關係，提出「屬於我們的身體語彙」。曾赴紐約及巴黎等地進行駐村創作，作品亦多次擄獲國際舞蹈大賽肯定。2011年成立「周先生」團隊及「周先生與舞者們」，成為舞蹈旅程中另一個起點。成立迄今以《1875．拉威爾與波麗露》遊歷臺灣及海外多個城市進行「舞蹈旅行計畫」；策畫提供新世代的編舞平台「下一個編舞計畫」；其他重要演出作品包括《重演》、《重演 – 在記得以前》，及周書毅獨舞創作《關於活著這一件事》等。 ◎重要得獎經歷： 2009《1875‧拉威爾與波麗露》 獲得英國表演藝術殿堂沙德勒之井劇院第一屆全球網路影片比賽首獎 2010 一月受邀於該劇院演出2場，同年十月獲紐約秋季舞蹈藝術節演出邀約 同年《從身體出發》榮獲丹麥Cross connection ballet編舞大賽銅牌 About Chou, Shu-Yi Chou Shu-Yi’s artistic career as an independent choreographer started in 2011. Through dance, he expresses his life experiences and journeys, reexamines his own life, and connects dance and body with environment and society, creating “a physical vocabulary of our own.” He has visited New York and Paris as an artist-in-residence, while he has also received several prizes from international dance competitions. In 2011, he founded the dance company Shu-Yi & Dancers and started several collaboration projects with dancers and artists from other fields. Since its establishment, it has presented Dance-travel project-1875 RAVEL AND BOLERO, which has already traveled numerous cities and completed 45 performances, Next Choreography Project, which offers a platform for younger-generation choreographers, major performances such asReenactment, Reenactment - In the Midst of Memories, and Chou’s solo dance piece About Living. Awards His work 1875 Ravel & Bolero in 2009, which won the First Prize of Sadler’s Wells Theatre’s very first “International Dance Competition Award” in UK, was invited to have two performances at the same theatre and was invited to perform at New York’s Fall for Dance Festival in the following October.
