This was almost a disaster. I'm cutting limbs from a tree that fell down, and putting them on my pallet forks. I'm dumping the load into the brush pile and one limb slides backwards and won't come off. As I'm getting ready to move my forks back and forth to try to flick it off, I happen to see a long limb wedged under a hydraulic hose. I'm about to get an oil shower! I stop the tractor and go examine the damage. The forward part of the limb is wedged around the grill guard on my Arrow Pallet Forks. I really like having that guard there because it protects my tractor, but right now, it's working against me. The back third of the limb runs under the tilt and curl hose for my front end loader, and the back part is stuck resting on a hydraulic filter. Something has to give. There's a good chance that I am seconds away from yanking a hydraulic hose in two, spilling oil everywhere, and having to run to the local farm and home to get a new hose. As it was, I caught it in time, and was able to cut it in two with my NaTiddy portable electric chainsaw, which you can order at my affiliate link here: https://natiddy.com/TractorMike. You pay the same price but I get a little commission from your purchase which is greatly appreciated. Most of the time, when I tear up something on my tractor, it's later in the day, when darkness is approaching, fatigue has set in, and I just don't want to have to get off the tractor seat. It's statistically when a lot of farming and tractor accidents occur. I was lucky this time, but it brought back how we all need to slow down and pay attention to what we're doing at all times. The coup[le of minutes that it took to saw the limb out of the bind was nothing compared to the expense and time it would have taken to drive to a store with hydraulic hose, replace the broken hose, refill the hydraulic fluid and be ready to work again. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Have you had an accident or breakdown that happened when you were in a hurry trying to get done before dark? If so, please put it in the comments below. LINKS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT... The Tractor Fun Store: https://asktractormike.com/products-f...
