Testing/learning new BDS Professional PP-131 digital spectrum analyzer -- cool LED light show!

For my workbench audio speaker testing, I needed a full range spectrum analyzer to "see" what is going on. My phone has an APP that I use but, the display is quite small. So, I bought this BDS unit and am testing it out. Here are my initial thoughts: THE GOOD: Good accuracy (tested with test tones) Rowdy "old school" LED display if you're into that Microphone input for open air spectrum audio sampling (with level control!) XLR in/out and RCA in/out (but "either/or" no combining) 19" rack mountable THE NOT SO GOOD: Expensive ($450+ from China) But, it was air mailed No useful "waterfall" function Worthless and disappearing peak hold modes No cursors No pink noise generator Generic LEDs (not OLED) Won't paint a tracer line while sweeping test tones Worthless VU meter...no indication of dB or voltage levels THE WIERD-CRAZY-INSANE The Chinese are drunk on LED's and lighty-lighty disco effects vs actual functionality Came in a box with several Chinese inspector cards -- self glorifying It is an okay unit and it is distortion free. However, it is only borderline useful for anything "professional". The APP I have on my phone is 1000x better and more professional...but, with a small screen. I tested this BDS unit using tone sweeps and it is fairly accurate. But, overall, it is like a 1970's disco light show with "some" useful features for frequency visualization. NOT worth $450+.
