This side of Stelvio ( Stilfser Joch) is pure rider heaven — smoother flow, fewer tourist buses (sometimes 😉), and the perfect playground for a big sport-tourer like the K1600GT. Along the way, you’ll hit the famous junction where you can either continue up to the Stelvio summit or hang a turn toward Umbrail Pass, a stunning Swiss-border road that drops you into the postcard-perfect village of Santa Maria Val Müstair. Tough choice? Yes. Wrong choice? Never. 🗓️ When does Stelvio open? Typically late May, but more often early June once the snow walls are cleared. The pass can stay open until late October — unless Mother Nature decides to throw an early snow tantrum in late September.
