LAST TRAIN: Pan Am BO-1's last run to Peabody, MA before abandonment? - 8/31/2023

On 8/31/2023 Pan Am Railways (now CSX) BO-1 ran to Peabody, MA for the last time. The last rail served customer on the North Shore, Rousselot gelatin plant, is closing down this year and stopped receiving railcars this week. Today the last empty was pulled out and I was able to document a sad but historic event of this line's history. While it will be a while its possible that the line will be abandoned at some point in the future although a section of the Danvers Industrial Track may see use for trolley passenger service in the future. Stay tuned for more info on that in another future video. This video follows the train out of Boston north to Peabody then back down as far as Chelsea where we paid our final respects to the last freight train on the north shore.
