This video is shared by my Honda CX500 Cafe Racer series and also the Honda CX650E video series. Honda CX500's and 650's are notoriously hard on the starter clutch and starter motor. The starter motor has to labour hard to start these high compression engines with a heavy flywheel. A well grounded starter motor will go a long way to increasing the effectiveness efficiency of the starter motor. In this video I will go through tearing down the Honda CX500 / CX650E starter motor, cleaning, checking the brushes and springs for specs, and modifying for a more direct ground connection to eliminated the poorly connecting plate to case system provided by the factory.
