Almost no modern Miyako fans are interesting to me. The only exceptions are their very uncommon household ventilating & exhaust fans, and the 4 blade 20" high velocity fan they released awhile back. I do find their SMC made fans & the previous generation dark blue fans pretty cool, but they are rather difficult to come by. I guess the brand took note of the lack of Miyako fan videos on my channel, as they reached out to me in early 2021 for a sponsored review video. I was interested & started talking to them for awhile, but as the chatting went on, I found out that all they wanted was an elaborate advertisement & nothing but praises for their product. On review videos that I've done, I take the fans apart to study the internals & use them for at least a week before making the video so that I can make a good conclusion on that fan. Miyako's ad agency wanted none of that, so I pulled out of the deal. I guess that experience further brought me away from their fans, until their 'Musang' or 'Badger' grille fans with Maspion style fan blades started popping up in electronic stores. This black variant first rolled out with the previous generation wide floppy blades & metal grilles only. Slowly they started to incorporate this plastic grille on their existing models along with a new grey variant, with the latest innovation being this Maspion style blades that admittedly are more durable & move more air than the previous generation fan blade. Their fans are priced at the middle of the rank of standard 16" pedestal fans available here, but I can never justify paying for a brand new one because this is one of the lowest ranked brand new fans in my wishlist. Fortunately this one popped up for sale online for dirt cheap, so I scooped it up immediately even though it needed a bit of work. For how much I paid for this fan, the experience I got from working on it & the knowledge brought from operating it pays it up big time. The performance of this fan is really nothing to write home about, but it's definitely quite an interesting fan. By the way, this fan is no longer with me. I sold it 2 months after I obtained it in May of 2024 since I didn’t need any more pedestal fans, let alone one that’s this cheap & bland. #Miyako #StandFan
