Today’s video is about the lovely Angela Yeo. Not too many competitors can say they won their first shows, especially across multiple different divisions...but Angie can! We’ll discover what her upbringing was like, what got her interested in bodybuilding and powerlifting, and the various challenges she has overcome on her meteoric rise in the sport! #fbb #bodybuilding #olympia #womensbodybuilding #womensfitness #gym #femalebodybuilding #femalebodybuildingmotivation #femalebodybuilders #msolympia #vascularity #strength #strongwomen #strong #abs #delts #physique #dedication #muscular #flex #flexing #lifting #weightlifting #musclebuilding #biceps #abs #quads #calves #traps #sixpack #size #conditioning #leanbody #femaleathletes #girlswholift #bodybuildinglifestyle #classicbodybuilding #aerobic #aerobics #cardio #workout #strengthandconditioning #strengthtraining #wellness #bikini #fit Angie is super relatable like that. And she goes into detail about her bouts with depression and turning to substances, and how she was able to grow and mature from it as a person. She’s very transparent and it adds to her likeability. She first got interested in bodybuilding in 2006 while flipping through magazines and being inspired by all the amazing physiques. She got married in 2009 at a time in her life when she started taking bodybuilding more seriously. She’s said that she was blown away when she attended her first arnold expo back when he actually let women compete in bodybuilding…ahem. It was a unique feeling for her because she really didn’t have many friends or acquaintances who shared her passion for competing in bodybuilding, which again is super relatable. Of the few shows I did not too many people attended, if any even showed up at all. I guess bodybuilding, and moreover women’s bodybuilding, is something that either you’re into or your not…so it’s good to be around like minded people, and why I appreciate all of my going on 800 subscribers! So at the Arnold Angie saw all these trophies and muscular women who were really enjoying what they were feeling on stage, and this inspired her to head down her path to bodybuilding. This experience enabled Angie to trust her instincts and make decisions based on them. She won both divisions in her first ever natural figure show in 2013, and get this: she did it all on her own, no trainer and no coach: she pieced together a successful contest prep plan through researching, writing, and asking more tenured competitors for tips. As she progressed she turned pro in bodybuilding in 2020 where she won nationals, after spending 5 years in physique. Strength is important to Angie. She’s also a power lifterl and has done about 5 or 6 meets. One of her main reasons for getting involved in powerlifting is because she wanted to be as strong physically as she looked aesthetically. She holds a few state records. Her best lifts are a 275lb bench press, a 400lb squat, and a 405lb deadlift, so yeah! I’d definitely say she’s as strong as she looks! In her words, powerlifting has “slapped the clay on her physique” meaning she was able to add a lot more size from consistently being under such heavy weights. I want to get into Angie’s contest history In 2013 she won the Tolledo Glass Septre Natural show and the silver medal at the Natural Olympia. She also won her pro card in figure at the Natural Universe that year. In 2014 she won the gold medal in figure at the Spartan Natural Classic, gold in figure at the natural universe, and 4th in figure at the natural Olympia In 2015 she won first in open physique at the North American Naturals as well as second in figure. She also won first at the Cardinal Classic, the Drug Free Athletes Coalition World finals and the natural Olympia that year. In 2017 she did a couple powerlifting meets and won the overall in physique at the Kentucky Championships. In 2018 she placed 3rd in physique, and did another couple power lifting meets. In 2019 she did 3 more powerlifting meets where she set Ohio state records in the bench press, squat, and dead lift. In 2020 she won first and overall at the warrior games and at Nationals, which is where she earned her ifbb pro card In 2022 she won the chicago pro, which got her an invitation to compete at the olympia, and as we all know she placed runner up to Andrea Shaw this past December To wrap things up I’d just like to say that Angie, your physique rocks. And you’ve shown us the great things that can happen when you trust your heart and follow your intuition. Best of luck this year, thanks for being awesome and we’re all rooting for you!
