In the mid-1980s while I was on tour with Jean Luc Ponty, I got a phone call from Jonathan Cain ( Journey). He wanted me to play for a day with his new band with John Waite. I told him that I had 4 days off and we arranged for me to fly from Ohio to his house in Northern California. It was impossible to send my touring equipment so I asked him to get me an amplifier. He said no problem and gave me Neil Schon's phone number so I could call and borrow some of his. Neil said he would have some of his stuff delivered so I could play. When I arrived there were two beautiful speaker cabinets and a Marshall but he had custom-made speaker connections and DID NOT send the cables. I was fucked. There I was with John Waite, Ricky Phillips, Jonathan Cain and had nothing to make a sound with. We called Neil a bunch of times but just got his answering machine. Finally, they put my guitar through the PA system, and for the next 6 hours, we jammed and fooled around writing music with John Waite. Anyway long story short, Neil got the gig and I went back to happily tour with Ponty. Tonight I was thinking about that day and more that I really can't share here about it all and I decided to put the camera on and Mess with Journey. I hope you enjoy my screwing around with their music. This is one take just making it up as I went.
