Les Paul is not the only thing that keeps the workshop alive! Sometimes I'm interested in working with Fender. This time a 1991 Japanese Telecaster for a friend of mine. This guitar originally had a very strange varnish. It was nitro, but it was all soft and dirty. After playing the guitar, the texture of the fabric of jeans was imprinted on the guitar. Apparently some kind of reaction in the lacquer caused it to become like plasticine. The color was also autumn strange. It was like a cow patty. My friend managed to wash off the dirt along with a soft layer of lacquer and the color got a little better. The fingerboard was repainted with nitro when the fret was replaced, but the rest of the fingerboard is covered with polyester. With all that said, this telecaster sounds amazing. We decided to clean it up. Enjoy the process!
