Join us on a ride from Dublin into one of Ireland’s most extraordinary ancient landscapes, Loughcrew, also known as Sliabh na Cailleach, just southeast of Oldcastle in Co. Meath. This motorcycle journey leads straight into a hilltop world filled with prehistoric monuments, breathtaking views, and a history that reaches back over five thousand years. At the heart of the site stands Cairn T, the largest tomb on Carnbane East. Once coated in brilliant white quartz, this passage mound shares architectural traits with the famous sites of the Boyne Valley. Its chambers are lined with carved stones featuring striking solar and astronomical symbols, some of the most impressive in the country. Twice a year, during the spring and autumn equinoxes, a narrow beam of sunlight travels deep into Cairn T and illuminates the inner Equinox Stone with remarkable precision. It’s a powerful reminder of how advanced and intentional these ancient builders truly were.
