“Raising Standards” was the theme for this year’s “Giants of Steam” Autumn Gala, featuring no less than four British Railways Standard Class Locomotives along with the popular Hall Class locomotive No.6989 ‘Wightwick Hall’ and Maunsell Q Class 0-6-0 No.30541. The Gala also featured the Metropolitan rake of four coaches, Maunsell Carriages dating from 1923-39, Southern Railway designed Bulleid Carriages dating from 1945-52 along with a selection of BR Mk 1 coaching stock and the GNR Director’s Saloon. The weather remained good for most of the day, with the trees taking on an autumnal look the scene was set for an excellent day. Please join me to watch the engines come off shed ready for the day ahead, in this video we cover the whole line and take a look around the beautifully kept stations with their pretty flower beds still in bloom.
