UPDATE: The full Tale of Derpla can be found here! :)    • THE TALE OF DERPLA - The Parrot that ...   This little baby caique got badly neglected by its parents and the growth was 3-4 weeks delayed. My breeder friend asked my help and we decided to pull the baby to be handfed to save its life. And, if I would manage to grow this baby up, I could keep it. Because handfeeding can cause many problems, I wanted to include bird company as soon as possible. But, it's not always so easy. Caiques are a bit hot tempered and there is a risk that the adult could hurt the baby. So, I took little steps when introducing thes two for each other. Pyro, my adul white-bellied caique, showed only one little sign of aggression when the baby flapped its wings - but in the end, it would seem that this meeting went much better than expected.
