We designed and built a multi-robot part handling system for loading and packing parts from an injection molding press. Shown in this video are incoming parts that need an over molding. Using vision guidance, the infeed robot picks and orients the parts one by one and builds a four-part grid that is picked up by a second mold robot with dual quad grippers. Over molded parts are removed from the mold press and new parts are loaded. The mold robot delivers the four molded parts to be picked up one by one by a third pack robot. Parts are either packed in totes directly or undergo vision inspection before being placed in the tote. Each layer is separated by a corrugated plastic sheet for protection.
