http://socialmediabar.com/hypeandbull... Are Hype and Bullshit Necessary? You have to be LOUD to be heard these days. You have to OVER-PROMISE, and hope to get away with under-delivering. It's called "Managing Expectations"... of course, this is done AFTER the sale. You buy something that claims to do whatever miracle, but "You're stupid if you think it's going to do that". And it's become rampant in our society. I bought something recently that literally said it was "ALL YOU NEED TO GET A FLOOD OF TRAFFIC" to my website, and instantly after I paid, it said that I could UPGRADE to get the necessary supplements that would... blah, blah blah. HYPE AND BULLSHIT Well, I'm SICK OF IT- aren't you? Politicians say something, and then say you have to be stupid to believe them. Hype and bullshit. "Buyer Beware" is the expected slogan. Why does this happen? Because it works! HYPE AND BULLSHIT!! So, I've been in the Home Business arena for a while now, and I've learned that unfortunately, people want some hype and bullshit because if you tell them the truth, they assume it must be worse than whatever you say... so, you have to HYPE it, so they expect less, and get what they expect. So the person who tells the TRUTH loses because they never get off the ground and the HYPE AND BULLSHIT salesman wins every time. Who wants to complain after buying something they "knew" wasn't going to be as good as they said? So, the hype and bullshit get away with it, make money and are therefore encouraged to do it some more. EVERY MOVIE has to be the BEST MOVIE you'll EVER see, or you won't go see it. Even if it's awful, the marketers do their best to get the people into the theatres on the first weekend so that no one finds out how terrible it is until it's too late. But they get to run away with the money, don't they? For God's Sake- Bret Rattner keeps getting hired because his movies make money... on the first weekend. And right now, our society has the attitude that "The MONEY justifies the means". So, here I am, wanting to HELP people, but realizing that the competition is constantly going to out- HYPE AND BULLSHIT me. The best example of this is my Half-Assed Health book, which is $5 on Kindle, and really tells someone ALL THEY EVER NEED TO KNOW about losing weight and looking good naked. But instead, everyone is so HYPED AND BULLSHITTED to believe that it's not possible that a little $5 book could really tell them everything, that they buy the totally hyped and bullshit p90x or whatever the next $100 expenditure is- THAT THE PRODUCERS KNOW THEY WON'T USE. So, should I use Hype and Bullshit too? So, here I am walking the line between being truthful, positive-minded, "marketing", managing expectations, bullshitty, etc. and who the hell wants to do all of that? Not me. However, I'm in the Home business arena too, and it is definitely full of Hype and Bullshit. Everyone is selling a home business that is the BEST BUSINESS EVER! And everything is sold with the "DO NOTHING AND GET RICH!" slogan, that anyone who doesn't sell that gets lost in the shuffle. "Why would I get into that business and do work, learn and slowly build a business, when I can just join this, do nothing, and be rich next week?" It makes sense! And are people naive for believing it? I don't think so- we want to trust, and many of the pitches make sense and sound reasonable. I NEVER blame a prospect for believing something the marketer promises. So, now I am part of THE EMPOWER NETWORK, which is a brilliant idea and system created by David Wood and David Sharpe. But the first time I saw it, it was so full of HYPE AND BULLSHIT that I couldn't get past the message to see the system. Even now that I have joined, and learned how smart and well put together the system is, I get sick of the hype-filled rah-rah sessions on the training calls. No- I'm not supposed to say that- I'm "MARKETING", right? But I've come to realize that you have to SHOUT if you want to be heard, and if these guys are going to be doing the Hype and bullshit for me, so I can learn and work the system they created, I'll let them yell all they want! If you agree, and are tired of HYPE AND BULLSHIT too, pass this along to your list of friends and fellow marketers! How often are people lying and selling in MLM or Netwrok Marketing with hype and bullshit? Can David Wood or David Sharpe say anything without hyping it up? But what if you let them do the hype and bullshit for you?
