I was once told that I don't really understand what yoga is—its history, origins, or spiritual teachings. Indeed, I don’t know every pose in Sanskrit, and I’m still working on my crow. But what I do know is what yoga means to me. The movement helps calm my mind. My practice makes me feel strong. I’m proud of the dedication it took to become more flexible. Yoga has supported me through some of the most difficult times in my life. It has given me the space to get clear, move forward, forgive, and set new goals. So I’m not so sure how much weight should be placed on knowing every detail of the teachings of yoga. Because at the end of the day, what really matters is how you feel with yourself, by yourself, with your heart full, loving your life and the people you choose to share it with.
