Join Indigenous data specialists Gwen Phillips and Christopher Horsethief for the first of three summer First Nations Data Governance Strategy (FNDGS) Knowledge-Sharing Sessions hosted by #FNPSS. This series, organized by the First Nations Information Governance Centre (FNIGC) and the BC First Nations Data Governance Initiative (BCFNDGI), is being held to begin assisting BC First Nations Governments in building capacity in data governance and information management. The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) acknowledges that Indigenous peoples have rights related to intellectual property and identity. This session will provide participants with practical examples of how First Nations Governments can assert ownership over their Nation’s intellectual property (ie. language, stories, songs, practices) and identity. For more information on all three summer knowledge-sharing sessions, and to register, please visit our website: https://fnps.ca/bcfndgs-engagement-se...
