How to do - Tar oil mixture treatment for knife handle

I had a nice piece of special cut wood block consisting of Wenge and Curly birch, which I attached to a small carbon steel blade. I decided to dip this knife handle to a mixture which contained pine wood tar, pine tree turpentine and Chinese oil. The tar gives beautiful color for light Curly birch wood and most interesting thing is the strong smell of tar which reminds me of visits to old boat houses along the coast line and Islands with old wooden boats. The tar itself have ingredients protecting wood against time and demanding conditions. Man from Brazil may meet some harsh conditions with this knife.
