Grasping the inconceivable | Märta Wallinius | TEDxLandskrona

Grasping the inconceivable: Severe mental illness and roads to and from violence Can persons with severe mental illness be dangerous and, if so, how can that come about? Welcome to an emotional journey, where psychologist Märta Wallinius, accompanied by a short movie giving first-person perspectives on development of severe mental illness and violence, will guide you towards an increased understanding of the recovery and challenges for persons who act violently under the influence of a severe mental illness. Märta Wallinius is an accomplished professional, serving as both an Associate Professor at Lund University and the Head of the Research Department at the Forensic Psychiatric Regional Clinic in Växjö. Märta brings extensive experience from her work as a psychologist within forensic settings, where she addresses individuals with violent and criminal behavior alongside severe mental health issues and social challenges. Her career has seamlessly integrated clinical practice, method development, and research. Additionally, Märta leads several significant clinical research projects related to forensic populations, and is primary investigator of the largest research program in forensic psychiatry ever, FORevidence. She is also lead investigator for several projects and methods development concerning virtual reality-assisted interventions in mental health settings. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
