Anelisa share's her uplifting story about how passionate she is about making her community in Khayelitsha more green, by encouraging her neighbours to start their own food gardens and to reduce, reuse and recycle waste in their homes. Anelisa is 13 years old and lives with her mom and three cousins in SIte B in Khayelitsha, in a community where young people are challenged by substance abuse and teenage pregnancy. Anelisa is a part of the Earthchild Project Eco Warriors, Eco Activists and Young Leaders Clubs. During lockdown, Anelisa started a container garden at home with the home garden kits supplied by Earthchild Project and our partners @urbanharvest. Because her home is close to a tap, community members who were using the tap saw Anelisa's garden and were interested in starting their own gardens, so Anelisa created a nursery where she could provide neighbours with seedlings and compost. Anelisa is passionate about her nursery because she knows that people can save money by growing their own food. She'd love to one day own her own piece of land and grow vegetables so that she can provide food for people in her community in Khayelitsha and maybe even start her own soup kitchen. Her favourite thing about being a part of Earthchild Project is having the opportunity to use her voice and follow her dreams. 📸 @dreamcatcherproductionsza #ecowarriors #naturelovers #environmentaleducation #youngactivist #ecoactivist #ecowarrior #climatechange #khayelitsha #zerowaste #noplanetb #ecoexplorer #ecoeducation #positivechange #bethechange #nurture #donate #sponsorachild
