The group was formed in May 2021 after the members met through ”The Naleio", student music club at Waseda University. Drawing strong inspiration from genres such as jazz, R&B, soul, gospel, and funk, HALLEY creates a sound that merges pop appeal with deep-rooted musical traditions. In March 2024, HALLEY released their debut album From Dusk Till Dawn, which garnered international attention following their performance at SXSW 2024 in Austin, Texas. The album was later nominated as one of the 12 finalists for the APPLE VINEGAR MUSIC AWARD 2025, curated by Gotch of ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION. HALLEY released the digital singles Can We Talk in April and 24 in June. 24 especially stood out for its artwork, artist photos, and music video, all shot in Hong Kong, where Haru (Gt.) spent his childhood. In September, they followed up with the digital single DON’T MIND. On November 30, 2025, HALLEY held a headline show titled The Late Night Show with HALLEY & Friends at Tokyo Kinema Club. Featuring a special 10-piece lineup including chorus and horn section, the event captivated the audience and concluded with great success. In December, they performed in Hong Kong at UN.EARTH 萌生 – Clockenflap Eve, presented by UN.TOMORROW feat. New Action!, and also performed as the backing band for Hong Kong singer-songwriter moon tang for her Japan show.
