In Fire Emblem games a "Gotoh" is a character archetype based on the sage Gotoh from the first game in the series, Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light. Story-wise Gotohs usually guide the main lord(s) from the midpoint of the story to the end; telling them what they should do and where they should go. Gameplay-wise Gotohs join late in the game; only being available for a couple chapters or fewer.
