In this TravelsWithBert video we visit Ban Rak Thai, a small Yunnanese Chinese village set beside a scenic lake high in the mountains of northern Mae Hong Son Province, close to the Myanmar border. Surrounded by tea plantations and misty hills, Ban Rak Thai is known for its distinctive clay houses, Chinese-style architecture, and peaceful atmosphere. It’s an ideal location for aerial footage, but on this visit the weather quickly turned, and torrential rain cut short the filming. Still, it’s easy to see why Ban Rak Thai remains one of the most picturesque stops on the Mae Hong Son Loop.
