Detailed biomechanical analysis and discussion on Knee joint motions. The possible motions of knee joint that is tibiofemoral joint are- KNEE FLEXION, KNEE EXTENSION, LATERAL & MEDIAL ROTATION,ABDUCTION AND ADDUCTION. This video focus on mechanics of KNEE MEDIAL ROATATION,LATERAL ROTATION and ABDUCTION, ADDUCTION OR VALGUS,VARUS motions and briefly on PATHOMECHANICS OF KNEE JOINT MOTIONS. The ligaments have a particular role in medial rotation and lateral rotation ; along with ligaments the knee menisci also have a significant contribution to knee joint motions.The menisci distort posteriorly and anteriorly with respect to axial rotations. The axis of axial rotation is a longitudinal axis and passes through medial condyle of tibia or medial intercondylar tubercle of tibia.The abduction and adduction takes place in frontal plane and AP axis. The normal range of KNEE AXIAL ROTATION is about 35 degree and in it LATERAL ROTATION OF KNEE 0-20 DEGREE and KNEE MEDIAL ROTATION IS ABOUT 0-15 DEGREE. The normal range of KNEE ABDUCTION AND ADDUCTION IS 13 TO 20 DEGREE and in it KNEE ABDUCTION is about 0-15 degree and KNEE ADDUCTION is about 0-5 degree approximately.
