Swedish soprano Malin Byström, a Swedish Royal Court Singer, was the soloist at the 2024 Nobel Prize Concert. Malin Byström is one of the most sought-after sopranos of our time. She has been named Female Singer of the Year at the International Opera Awards. Possessing all the nuances of the lyrical-dramatic voice and a glowing stage presence, she has moved and delighted audiences all over the world. The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra was led by Czech conductor Petr Popelka – newly appointed Chief Conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and also Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. In the concert programme, Malin Byström performed the final scene from the opera Salome by Richard Strauss, whose operas have become something of a speciality for her. The programme also included Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances. Petr Popelka began by conducting music from his homeland by Vítězslava Kaprálová. Her Suita Rustica from 1938 was inspired by lovely Czech folk songs and dances. The concert is presented by Nobel Prize Outreach AB in collaboration with Konserthuset Stockholm.
