I'm going to try something different over the summer for the live streams. I want to play a live "Gameshow" type of challenge. This week will be the test run. But this is what I have right now, we will see how it works out. I am also considering the option of inviting other YouTubers in the future and having a head-to-head challenge. Game Format Each livestream consists of three consecutive rounds. Brian spins the Name Wheel to select one of ten pre-loaded individuals*, then opens a 30-second chat poll to let viewers choose how many generations to trace (2–5), which sets the timer to 10, 18, 26, or 35 minutes, respectively. Parents (Generation 1) are automatically considered completed at no time cost. To win a round, Brian must trace back to the chosen generation and, for each ancestor he marks “completed,” uncover at least three of these seven record types: birth (or baptism/adoption), death (or gravestone), marriage, census/voter list, city/town directory, land/court record, or mention in a book/newspaper. (One marriage record may count for both spouses.) Best-of-Three Stakes Overall Success (wins 2/3 rounds): Round 3 becomes a bonus Q&A with Brian—no viewer prize. Overall Failure (wins 0–1 rounds): A random viewer wins either a piece of channel merchandise or a three-month Family Circle membership. ✨ Super Chat Power Plays ✨ Fuel Brian’s hunt and leave your mark on the game! Penalties (Power-Strikes) ⏲️ Time Drain: Subtract 1 sec per $0.02 donated from Brian’s clock. 📈 Record Ramp-Up: For one ancestor, boost the requirement to 4 of 7 records instead of 3. 🔍 Cousin Quest: Force Brian to locate one cousin in the current generation. 📈 Gen-Level Up: Add +1 generation to the target (with its full time allotment). 🎡 Wheel Shock: Brian must re-spin the Name Wheel and reset the poll timer & goal.
