Subscribe: / @puckpediatv On Episode 15 of the PuckPedia Hockey Show we welcome Chase Priskie, current hockey player playing for Sibir in the KHL. We start the episode talking about the start of his hockey career, how a kid from Florida got into hockey. His parents had season tickets to the Florida Panthers and he went to his first game at 30 days old. Then started playing roller hockey and ice hockey at a young age, and left Florida to go to Connecticut to advance his career, then played in the BCHL before getting a scholarship and going to Quinnipiac. Then he got drafted as an overager during his college career to the NHL by the Washington Capitals. He talks about his process of going to their development camps for three seasons before becoming a Free Agent and never signing his Entry-Level Contract with Washington, due to their roster composition. Chase signed with the Carolina Hurricanes after graduating college. His agent Lewis Gross helped compile a list of the available roster spots and made a decision based on his position and the organization. Chase played a couple AHL seasons with Charlotte before getting traded to the Florida Panthers organization as part of a deal that also included Vincent Trochek, Erik Haula, and Eetu Luostarinen. Then he tells us about the time he got called up to the NHL and was all set to play before the league shut down due to COVID. He was a part of the taxi squad for the Panthers during the COVID bubble playoffs in Toronto. Then the following season he was up with the Panthers for 30 games, playing in 4, so he touched on those NHL games. He talked about the culture shift in Florida when Dale Tallon got fired and Bill Zito came in. Then he talks about signing with the Buffalo Sabres as a free agent, being assigned to Rochester out of training camp, then requesting a trade due to not meshing well with their team system. Then he ended up back in Washington and playing in Hershey, winning a Calder Cup. Chase then hit veteran status and got squeezed out of the AHL, so he landed in Siberia in the KHL with Sibir in Novosibirsk. He tells us how he is adjusting to life on a different continent than his wife and family, but also a completely different style of play in this league. Then we wrap up the episode talking about Chase’s LinkedIn journey, and how he has become such a star on the platform and how Hockey Twitter has become infatuated with his updates. 00:00 Intro 02:15 Chase’s Hockey Journey 09:00 Getting Drafted to the NHL 11:30 Becoming a Free Agent 16:45 Getting Traded 18:00 NHL Debut Blocked by COVID 19:15 Playing in the NHL 21:00 Signing in Buffalo 24:30 Winning a Calder Cup 26:45 Heading to the KHL 29:45 Adjusting to Life in Siberia 32:45 Chase on LinkedIn Visit PuckPedia.com and follow PuckPedia on social media!
