Despite the internal name given to the 2026 Mercedes-Benz “Baby” G-Class, the goal remains the same: to bring the iconic off-roader’s legendary features and capabilities to a wider demographic at a more affordable price. We expect the “Baby” G-Class to be more city-oriented with great off-road capability, smaller, lighter and more agile than the existing full-size SUV, the rugged and luxurious G-Class. For fans of Mercedes-Benz compact SUVs, the “Baby” G-Class will be a more luxurious and entertaining vehicle than the GLB and GLA. Inside, you can expect a seamless blend of modern design, advanced engineering and premium materials. The MBUX dual-screen interface, advanced driver assistance systems and a wealth of connectivity options will all be standard. The Baby G-Class design takes the G-Wagen’s signature boxy features and updates them with strong fenders, a square front grille featuring a three-star emblem and round headlights featuring ring-shaped daytime running lights. Everyday use in urban locations is perfect thanks to its compact shape, which provides greater agility. The Baby G-Class, when viewed from the side, resembles the classic G-Wagen. Despite its small stature, the sharp, straight body lines give it a strong, masculine appearance. This robust SUV stands out from the crowd thanks to its prominent front and rear fenders. At the rear, the small G-Class maintains the same dominant, upright and sharply angled profile as its larger sibling. The swing-out tailgate is in excellent condition, and the distinctive hardcase spare tire protrudes from the center of the door, proving its authenticity and durability. Full LED technology and a sleek horizontal shape give the rear lights a more futuristic look, in keeping with the overall retro-modern style. A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 48V mild hybrid system powers both main trim levels of the Baby G-Class. It can produce 204 hp and 320 Nm of torque. This version, with all-wheel drive (4MATIC) and 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, is ideal for powerful yet efficient daily transport. The electric option remains the main attraction. Both front and rear electric motors contribute to the drivetrain, which produces a total of 300 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. WLTP data shows that the 80 kWh battery can provide a range of 400 km. #mercedes #mercedesgclass #newcars
