We spent a few days 4-wheeling and camping our way through the Tahoe National forest. We visited some of our favorite lakes and trails and even made it to a few lakes that we haven't been to yet. The weather was sporadic, ranging from 88 degrees and sunny, to lightning, thunder and heavy rain all in one afternoon. The trails were easy to moderate, the rain and mud made them slightly more difficult, but we only had to go into 4-lo one time during the entire trip and we kept our diffs open the entire time. Be prepared when you come up to the mountains, the conditions will change in a flash on you! Again, we had to pick up lots of trash from campers who don't respect the land. Please pick up after yourselves before the land gets closed for everyone! Please pick up trash, even when it's not yours, leave no trace that you were there, be thoughtful of your camp neighbors with noise and dogs, and help out others when you can! Ever since the phrase "overlanding" has become popularized, I feel that these basic points of trail etiquette are being lost on the new generation of trail runners and campers.
