Skulptur efter skulptur: Ett rundabordssamtal med Michael Fried, Isabelle Graw, Michelle Kuo, Charles Ray och Scott Rothkopf modererat av Jack Bankowsky. Skulptur efter skulptur är en utställning på Moderna Museet i Stockholm med verk av Katharina Fritsch, Jeff Koons och Charles Ray, tre banbrytande konstnärer som alla har omskapat skulpturen som konstform. Sex månader före öppnandet av utställningen anordnade Moderna Museet och Art Center College of Design i Pasadena i Kalifornien med förenade krafter en rundabordskonferens som i förväg diskuterade utställningen. Curatorn Jack Bankowsky bad fem tänkare – Michael Fried, Isabelle Graw, Scott Rothkopf, Michelle Kuo och Charles Ray – att begrunda idén bakom utställningen och de frågor den väcker. Konferensen ägde rum på Art Center College den 17 april 2014. Skulptur efter Skulptur tar avstamp i ikoniska skulpturer från det sena 1980-talet och tidiga 1990-talet som belyser dessa konstnärers tidiga förhållande till konsumtionsvaran och ready-maden. Utställningen följer sedan utvecklingen i deras konstnärskap, från det funna till det tillverkade, från uppvisande till utförande. The exhibition Sculpture After Sculpture at Moderna Museet in Stockholm brings together the work of Katharina Fritsch, Jeff Koons, and Charles Ray in a far-reaching examination of three innovators whose parallel endeavors have reinvented the traditions of their art form. Six months before the opening of the exhibition Modern Museum and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California joined forces and arranged a roundtable conference. Curator Jack Bankowsky invited five thinkers - Michael Fried, Isabelle Graw, Scott Rothkopf, Michelle Kuo and Ray Charles - to discuss the idea behind the exhibition and the questions it raises. The following discussion took place at the Art Center College April 17, 2014. Sculpture After Sculpture begins with iconic works from the late 1980s and early ’90s that highlight the artists’ early relationships to the commodity and the readymade. The exhibition unfolds in a series of startling juxtapositions that trace the development of their practices from the found to the made, from the performed to the embodied.
