468. The Shifty Series! DON'T MISS the INCREDIBLE Color-Shift Results Of This Deconstructed Bloom!!

#fluidart #bloomtechnique #diyart Hi all! I was at Sherwin Williams buying wall paint for a bathroom remodel, and broke down and bought a couple quarts of Color To Go in Tricorn Black. It makes a really nice pillow for anything bloom technique related. I rarely use a black base and felt overdue; and wanted to experiment with color shift and/or iridescent paints. I looked up the differences between color shift and iridescent, and it's subtle: iridescent paints have a subtle shift between colors; whereas true color shift paints have a metallic look when dried and the shift is more pronounced. That was certainly true here; the color shift is really unbelievable--especially in person, and this deconstructed bloom piece just GLOWS. Pictures don't do it justice!! I was so enamored I'm going to create two more, one with a white base to see if the shift is as prevalent (I assume not), and one more in black. PATREON:   / waterfallacrylics   *********************************** THE RECIPE: House Paint-base aka puddle for the substrate: Color To Go Satin in Tricorn Black (found only at Sherwin Williams paint stores) Pouring Medium aka PM Recipe: mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator: Behr 8300 Untinted Deep Base Paint (Home Depot); and Valspar High Gloss Ultra Base C Untinted base (Lowe's). 50/50. Mix well. NO varnish added! Use the colors of your choice! These tutorials are meant to educate and inspire! Here's how to mix: Pigments: For a 3 oz cup I add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of pigment powder to the cup, then add enough gloss varnish (any brand; I use JoSonja gloss varnish) to cover the powder. Mix well until all pigment is thoroughly wet; then add the pouring medium. Golden, Atelier, and Da Vinci Fluid Acrylics: I put about 2-2 1/2 ounces of the pouring medium into a 3 ounce cup, then squirt in color until I reach my desired shade. Mix well. For tube paint, I added an ounce of paint (heaping tablespoon) to a 3 ounce cup, then added 2 ounces of pouring medium. If still thick I add a squirt of Golden's High Flow Medium (thins and extends acrylic colors) and stir well. All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it (stir really well), then add into a 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well.
