Going back 20 years, owning a Giant ATX One DH in the mountain bike downhill community in Beijing was definitely the coolest thing ever. Of course, the price was also quite expensive at that time. Myles Rockwell, Rob Warner, Crawford Anderson rode the ATX One DH to win the world championship between 1996 and 2000. It took me about a year to build this bike by selecting the parts that were produced in the same era. E.g. I chose the Japanese Tech-In fork to give this bike a little bit Asian vibe. Tech-In used to be a well-known brand in Japan but only existed for a few years and no longer exists anymore nowadays. The crankset, both the arms and chain ring, are from Raceface. I’ve chosen the old Mavic D321 ceramic rims and HOPE's Pro 2 EVO hub for the wheelset setup. The drivetrain system was set to single speed by using the SB One rear chain tensioner. But later, I felt that the weight of the bike itself was very heavy, so I changed my mind by installing the 9-speed XTR 952 system. To give more vintage vibe to this bike, I’ve chosen the Hayes Mag G1 disk brake with carbon fiber brake lever. For the chain tensioner upfront, it comes with the original AC chain tensioner, which is very rare to find these days. For the handlebar and saddle, I have chosen the old Tioga DL2001 DH Factory Taskforce handlebar and the vintage Tioga downhill saddle. I wasn't originally a loyal fan of Giant, but the first GIANT I have ever own was a NRS Team which I bought in 2004. Besides that recently I also collected a GIANT AC Team. Actually, I am very happy that I’ve collected this Giant ATX One DH frame, it can help me fulfill my dream when I was young and take me back to that era. Keep smile on your face and some love of mountain biking in your heart. Cheers.
