An interpretation of Mallorca by Isaac Albéniz, performed on a Classical guitar by Antoine Pansera. Mallorca (or Majorca) op. 202, like most of Albéniz's works originally written for piano, has surprisingly become better known in transcriptions for classical guitar. Mallorca is a Balearic island in the Mediterranean belonging to Spain, and through this piece one can easily imagine a mysterious and beautiful island with a Moorish influence. Albéniz chose a Barcarolle to convey the sounds of the sea, with its calm, measured rhythm describing the gentle waters that bathe its shores. I'm a Baroque lute, Renaissance lute, Classical guitar, and other plucked-string instruments aficionado! My repertoire focuses mainly on Early music, but also includes Romantic and Avant-Garde works.
