Vinik purchased the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2010, promising a comprehensive transformation of the franchise and pledging to make a significant positive impact in the Tampa Bay community. Vinik’s Strategic Property Partners, LLC has purchased numerous parcels of land around the Lightning’s Amalie Arena, and announced plans for a hotel, retail and residential complex west of the arena.
