This is part 2 of the let's build series. In this part the lower part of the base frame is completed and I can continue with step 2 and with step 3. Step 2 is about the so called Sliding plate assembly, which is the upper part of the base frame. This includes the left and right rails or Y guides for the gantry where the hotend is later mounted on to. Step 3 is focused on the hotend and gantry assembly. The hotend, which is mounted on the toolholder, is slid on to the gantry rails and the gantry is then secured to the left and right guide rails via the mounting brackets / skateboards.
