The Ramos Gin Fizz is undeniably delicious. It is a tall dream of a drink that is sweet, tart, and refreshing, crowned with a frothy egg-white cap that rises above the drink like a cloud of meringue. Bennett is a big fan of this cocktail, but he rarely orders one because he desperately wants to be liked, and the Ramos is notoriously difficult to make. Supposedly, this drink is meant to be shaken for 12 to 15 minutes, which we can all agree is quite a long time (especially with skinny, felt arms). But don’t let that fun fact discourage you. Bennett has another, lazier way to enjoy this cocktail. And it is something that you probably have at home. This time at the Puppet Tavern, we cheat and make a Ramos Gin Fizz in under a minute. Ramos Gin Fizz 2oz. London Dry Gin 1oz. heavy cream 1oz. simple syrup, (1:1, sugar to water) .5oz. lemon juice .5oz. lime juice 1 egg white 6 drops of orange flower water 2oz. club soda In a blender (or shaker), combine gin, lemon and lime juices, simple syrup, orange blossom water, and egg white. Pulse (or shake) without ice until very frothy, then add cream. Blend with a single 1"x 1" ice cube and blend until the cube disappears. (In my high-powered blender, this takes about 30 seconds) (In the shaker, shake with ice until cold) Strain into a tall, chilled glass and add soda water.
