Then we have more in common :) The hard thing is that I love models. That's how my brain works. The problem, which is hard for me to reconcile internally, is that there are too many things out of our control to purely work in models. This is especially true in marketing. We have to this thinking with critical thinking to find a happy medium. With different models like linear, time-decay, and last-click (among 4+ others), it's daunting for this to be effective--especially for startups who are still early-to-late-stage. I'd avoid them for now. Instead, focus purely on what's working. Use a simple methodology and work toward focused KPI's tat make sense. Are you blogging to generate traffic? Focus on traffic and email collection. PPC ads? Focus on transactional metrics. Keep it really simple and go channel-by-channel.
