What is the AAT-ACA Fast Track? Developed with AAT, the AAT to ACA Fast Track is a quick and efficient route into chartered accountancy after Level 4 AAT. Instead of starting the ACA qualification from scratch, this route allows you to skip some training steps towards qualifying as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant, as you will have covered similar ground through your Level 4 AAT qualification. Your AAT exams, prior work experience, knowledge and skills mean you may be able to accelerate (or fast-track) towards chartered accountancy. AAT exemptions If you have passed AAT Level 4, you will get exemptions from the three papers under Applied Knowledge and start at Applied Skills and will pay no exemption fees. You may start by following either the traditional or apprenticeship routes. Paper to paper exemptions If you haven’t passed the full AAT Leve 4 qualification you can still claim exemptions on a paper to paper basis: If I’ve done AAT, are there any exemptions going on to CIMA? If you have completed AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting (Level 4) you are exempt from the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, and can start the CIMA Professional Qualification straight away. If you haven’t completed AAT but hold the AAT Level 2 (Foundation) or Level 3 (Advanced) diploma you can still study for CIMA. You will begin with the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, this is four exams aimed at testing the fundamentals of accounting and business. When you have completed the certificate level, you then go on to the CIMA Professional Qualification, this is broken down into three levels - Operational, Management and Strategic. At each level you have three Objective Tests and then a case study exam.
