Chapters: 0:00 Introduction 0:35 Listing of Videos 1:19 Fence Permit 1:51 Having 811 Mark Utilities 2:25 You've Got This! We are going to break down the Stronghold Iron fence and gate installation process across 8 videos. By breaking it down to the different steps of the installation process, we hope that it will give you a better understanding visually of what goes into installing these iron fence and gates on your own. Here are the 8 videos we will break the Stronghold Iron fence and gate installation series into: 1. Pre-Installation Preparation 2. Calculating Your Post Spacing 3. Marking Your Layout 4. Digging Your Post Holes 5. Setting Your Posts 6. Installing Your Fence Panels 7. Installing Your Gates 8. Project Completion and Maintenance Whether the fence is outside ready to be installed, or you are just researching if it’s a DIY project you want to tackle, these videos should prove helpful. Before we jump to the 8-step fence installation process in the next video, I’m going to assume two items have already been addressed if you’ve ordered your materials already. The first item is you have already obtained a fence permit from the city or permission from any governing bodies. Your local city may or may not require you to get a fence permit prior to installation. The process is usually fairly easy and inexpensive. Just contact your local city building department to see if they require a permit. You may also live in an area with a Home Owners Association or Historic Preservation Society that have guidelines on what you can install. Hopefully, you did this before you ordered, but if you haven’t, now is the time to do so. You don’t want some irate neighbor or city official bringing the installation to a grinding halt part way through. The second item is you have already had 811 mark your utilities. 811 is a nationwide free public service that will come out and mark any buried public utilities in your yard such as gas, electric and water lines. You can call them at 811 or visit call811.com to schedule them online. Don’t be that person that thinks they know better and digs a post hole right through a utility line. Just keep in mind that 811 can only mark public utility lines. Things like buried downspouts or gutters, invisible dog fence or wiring for outdoor lights will not be marked by 811. So, make sure you know where those are in your yard. As you make your way through the installation videos, you may begin to worry there is more to the installation than you can handle. However, I want to tell you that this is something you can absolutely do. A large portion of our business is thousands of do-it-yourself homeowners. And I can assure you that many of them were first time fence installers. Unlike most fence manufacturers that don’t want to deal with homeowners, we embrace the DIY folks and try to get as much information as possible out there for you. If you ordered from us already, you probably know that from all the back and forth we had from when you first contacted us to when you ordered. Work your way through the videos and be sure to refer to the print installation guide we emailed over as well. If you hit a wall, or something still doesn’t make sense, give us a call or shoot us an email and we’ll help out. I can assure you thousands of do-it-yourselfers have tackled the project and you can too.
