Snowy 2.0 Project Update - Checking in with TBM Florence and the team at Tantangara! 🏔️

Let's check in with TBM Florence as she works to excavate part of Snowy 2.0's headrace tunnel - that is the tunnel that will bring water from Tantangara Reservoir through to the top of our incline pressure shaft, before it begins the journey downhill and through our turbines to create hydropower. It's not just Florence that is working hard at Tantangara though! The team are pushing ahead with works on the intake structure and gate shaft - even coming up with a very special concrete mix to withstand the freezing conditions. Snowy 2.0 is crucial to Australia's transition to renewable energy. When complete, it will generate 2,200 gigawatts of electricity, and have a storage capacity of 350,000 megawatt hours (that's enough to power 3 million homes for a week!) Snowy 2.0's on demand electricity generation will provide more reliability and stability to the national electricity grid - allowing more renewable energy generation to come online, taking the pressure off ageing coal fired power stations.
