Cargo plane crashes after take-off in Louisville, Kentucky A UPS cargo plane with three crew members aboard crashed on Tuesday evening near Louisville International Airport shortly after take-off, sparking fires on the ground. The US Federal Aviation Administration said UPS Flight 2976 crashed around 5.15pm local time (9.15am Wednesday AEDT). The FAA identified the aircraft as a McDonnell Douglas MD-11 headed to Hawaii. UPS said in a statement that three crew members were on board the aircraft, but provided no information as to any casualties or injuries. Aerial footage of the crash site showed a long trail of debris as firefighters blasted water onto a conflagration, as smoke billowed from the disaster area.
